Summary:
This role is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, components, and services required for production while aligning purchasing decisions with budgetary guidelines and financial controls. The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and suppliers to ensure cost-effective and timely procurement that supports manufacturing goals.
Description of Duties & Responsibilities:
· Analyze purchasing needs and prepare purchase orders for materials, equipment, and services in alignment with budget forecasts and inventory goals.
· Source and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, service, and reliability; maintain strong vendor relationships.
· Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts to achieve optimal cost savings and risk mitigation.
· Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues related to delivery, quality, or invoicing discrepancies.
· Collaborate with Finance to ensure accurate cost accounting, budget tracking, and reporting of procurement activities.
· Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.
· Maintain up-to-date procurement records, including purchase orders, receipts, invoices, and vendor agreements.
· Assisting with inventory planning, maintaining proper stock levels, and managing purchase orders.
· Assist in the development of cost-reduction strategies and continuous improvement initiatives within procurement processes.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in finance, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
· 3+ years of experience in purchasing or procurement within a manufacturing environment.
· Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite), and procurement software.
· Buyers need to be able to perform calculations related to pricing, discounts, and other financial aspects of purchasing.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
· Ability to resolve issues related to inventory, quality, and other supply chain matters.
